The First Lady and Executive Director of The Rebecca Foundation, H.E Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has made a call to Ghanaians to take action, build consensus and provide the needed funding to help end children dying from malnutrition, malaria or other preventable illnesses in Ghana.
According to public health experts say, if care is not taken, there is the risk that the COVID-19 pandemic could result in a nutrition crisis due to disruptions to our food systems. Hence this is the time to safeguard food and nutrition security.
This was at the just ended Nutrition Advocate Event, where she committed to working hard towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by ensuring the decline in the prevalence of malnutrition and its resultant ill- health and death among children. She also took the opportunity to appreciate the good campaign from the Health sector ” Start Right Feed Right” Campaign that was initiated to improve the quality of children’s diet to keep us on the path to meeting Global Nutrition Targets. She urged all stakeholders to help continue to strengthen school-based interventions as we provide safe potable water, health nutrition hygiene and infection prevention education.
